The Loch Ness Monster...

may not be real or at least that's what scientists have said for a long time. They claim the lake with its very small fish population could in no way support such a large creature which has been described by some as some long lost Plesiosaur who forgot what time era it is. Plesiosaurs existed from the Jurassic period and died out sometime just before the cretaceous period.
The latest theory is that the famous picture of "Nessie" might in fact be a circus elephant and if you look the image, it does indeed resemble the trunk from an elephant. It seems that when traveling circuses traveled through that area, they'd often let the animals take a dip in the water. You can read about it here.
