The RIAA and the MPAA are exposed for what they really are...

Recently, the U.S. Justice Department gave the go ahead on the extradition order of a U.K citizen by the name of Richard O’Dwyer. Now, O’Dwyer wasn’t caught by some long investigation by the UK government nor the U.S. government for that matter. The complaint came from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). If O’Dwyer is convicted of the crime he’s accused of, he could face many years in a U.S. prison.
What makes this story so strange is the fact that the 23-year-old young man didn’t commit any crime nor was his action illegal in his own country for that matter. What O’Dwyer did was simply link to where one could download some media on the Internet. To the casual reader, it seems very strange that the U.S. has asked the U.K. to surrender this young man to be prosecuted and the request of the MPAA. However, a quick Internet search reveals what appears to be some back room cronyism in the Obama Administration.
When Obama ran for office many were awed by his rock n’ roll like status portrayed to us by the media and his election team. Never mind those flashy billboards and that awfully cool logo that they put on everything. Many wondered who on earth it was that gave him that awesome stage like he was some rock n' roll legend, - remember all that? The fact of the matter is that many knew Hollywood and music executives had a big hand in getting him elected along with a media that protected him like no other candidate before.
Back in April 2009, 12 interest groups wrote to President Barack Obama and asked him to please quit giving lawyers from the Recording Industry of America (RIAA) appointments in the Justice Department. He ignored the plea and just one week following the request, he installed the 5th lawyer from the RIAA by the name of Ian Gershengorn and given the job of “deputy assistant attorney of the Civil Division.” So, is it any wonder then that the MPAA and RIAA have been aggressively trying to pass legislation giving them domain over the Internet and use the Justice Department as their own little agency? Gershengorn’s appointment in 2009 was proof just how much the RIAA and MPAA has a stranglehold on the Obama Administration, and how they are looking for payback for his election as President. A lot of fat wallets made sure he’d get elected and now they’re literally in the White House making sure he signs off on any legislation they want to see passed.
One example of late is the attempted passage of the Stop Online Piracy Act” (SOPA) along with the Protect IP Act (PIPA). Had the Internet community along with GOOGLE, Wikipedia, et. al., not intervened and protested the proposed legislation,
the passage of those acts would have changed the Internet for good and possibly been the beginning of the end of our 1st Amendment rights on the Internet.
It's this writer’s opinion that the RIAA and MPAA have brought a knife to a gunfight, and the Internet is packing some really heavy artillery. The Obama Administration has been exposed for what it is, and if those who voted for him can't see this, then they have their heads buried in the sand, as the proverbial saying goes.
