Remember Richard O'Dwyer...

Richard O'Dwyer is a young man from the United Kingom (U.K)that has been charged with piracy. With that said, it's important to understand that the type of piracy he has been accused of is not even a crime in U.K. Furthermore, he is not being charged or rather, accused of this crime by U.K. Police or even United States (U.S.) police, he's being attacked by the RIAA and MPAA. His crime? Simply linking to video content on the web. O'Dwyer could possibly be extradited to the United States by the power of the RIAA and MPAA using a law that is supposed to be for terrorism.
The video post below is a discussion on the topic of Richard O'Dwyer from a U.K. news perspective. Please, if you are in the U.S., write your Congressman about this. If you need a list of who your Representative is in your region of the US, please write me and I'll help you out. Or just Google it! Come on, it's the Internet!
If you are in the United Kingdom or any of Her commonwealths, please, - I implore you! Please, write or talk to your elected officials and tell them you are very angry with how far the United States is going in regards to matters like this.
With that said, I want to clarify I do not support on-line pirating. However, what SOPA and PIPA were proposing to do was to essentially censor the Internet, which is an entity that belongs to no one. There are and can be better ways and protecting the rights of copyrighted material, all the while allowing fans to have their say as well. Learn all you can about this matter, and please pass on the message!
If you are an agent or employee of the RIAA, MPAA or this new entity, "WebSheriff'(maybe it should be the 'Web Nazis'). I hope you do realize that you're killing the goose that is laying the golden egg. If you continue to attack the fans of the music and film industry, you'll drive them underground and you'll give rise to more free sharing, and more private and independent films. The old adage that you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar applies here. Sometimes a wise pithy saying can speak volumes more than what any NY City Lawyer can dish out.
