Possum Livin' days...

Years ago I had this room mate that would joke around with me all the time about how to live a life on poverty level. We were both dirt poor and there were times when we were eating generic spaghetti noodles and those free ketchup packs you get in fast food restaurants- it was pretty bad there for a while.

Anyway, one night just out of the blue he started talking about this crazy book he saw at the library with this kids. He said it was called 'possum living' and it was some book on how to make it when you're poor. "You know," he said in his thick Brooklyn, New York accent "that book is right up our alley brother!" He got real silent for a while and I could see the wheels turning in his head. He started grinning really big and suddenly blurted out, "Hey Jack! We should come up with our own possum living ideas! Maybe once a week we'll think of new ones and out do the other? How about that!? We ain't got no TV and we got to think of something to do right?"

Our 'Possum livin' ideas became quite the popularity between the both of us and a running private joke more often than not. If I was going out on a date he'd say something like "Hey Jack, do Possum living tip #35!" or something crazy like that. A conversation between us on any given Thursday night or so would be something like the following,

Hey Jack, got a new possum living for you.

Oh yeah? Okay, shoot. See if it tops mine!

Okay, Possum Living tip #12. Need cat food and you're broke? Simple! Throw bird seed out the door and get the birds used to coming close to your house. In no time you'll have dozens of birds a day chirping and eating happily in your yard. Once the birds get used to you, set the cat loose for a free bird supper!"

When I found the following picture, I thought of my old room mate.

So, for posterity's sake I give you Possum Living tip #123. Need a grill for cooking but out of money? No worries. Get an old shopping cart and cook away!

Sr. Law ;)¡Gran poste! Gracias por tardar la época de escribir algo que está realmente digno de la lectura. Encuentro demasiado a menudo el Info inútil y no algo que es realmente relevante. Gracias por su trabajo duro.

The world is a crazy place, J.T.'s mind is crazier. From 80s music to the death of beloved icons and so much more, J.T. shares his thoughts with the world at large. So dust off your Quiet Riot cassette and pop it in to the stereo of your stereotyped 80's Firebird. Get ready to laugh, cry and pump your fist in the air. J.T. is here so make sure you're prepared.
