Marvel Comics...

When I was a young man growing up in southern Alabama, I would weekly walk down to the convenience store about a half mile outside my neighborhood to either get something to read or grab a coke from the machine. More often than not, I'd always go through the latest magazines I wanted. I was a big fan of Eerie Magazine and a whole host of other sci-fi magazines. I'd go through the rack for what seemed like forever picking and choosing something new to read and especially during the summer months when we had so much freedom to run around like most kids did back then. I had a few favorite comics too which usually dealt in Sci-Fi and of course most of the popular Marvel super heroes. Of the Marvel brand, Ghost Rider and the Amazing Spider Man were two of my favorites in my pre-teen years. Coincidentally, both are now mega hits on the big screen (well, ahem...er, um - I guess maybe just Spider Man.) Oh! And I especially loved that one page in the comics with all the gimmicks and gadgets from the Johnson Smith company - you know, the cool X-ray glasses, ventriloquist doll - (I actually got one), whoopee cushions and inflatable ghosts - click here to see what I'm talking about
Today I was taken back to see that Walt Disney has purchased Marvel comics for an incredible price of 4 billion dollars in some surprise deal. Doesn't that just seem wrong?I can't explain exactly why but it seems like bad feng shui corporate management or something... oh well, the story is below.
