Leslie Nielson, best known for his role in 'Airplane!' died today after a long bout with pneumonia, he was 84 years of age.
Nielson was Born in Saskatchewan, Canada on February 11th, 1926. After his stint in the Canadian military he began his professional acting career in the late 1940s. After many television roles, he gained some critical attention as an actor with full feature films such as the sci-fi classic, "Forbidden Planet" the equally classic ship disaster film, "The Poseidon Adventure". However, it wasn't until he ventured into comedy in the early 80s that he became famous with his role with the 1980 comedy, "Airplane!". He would later become famous for the "Naked Gun" series and numerous comedy films based on his newly found trademark style as the serious comedian.
